Frank J. Tomecek, MD, is a fellowship-trained physician providing high-quality neurosurgical care at the Oklahoma Spine & Brain Institute. Dr. Tomecek practices in Tulsa and Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Dr. Tomecek has a wide range of experience treating a number of neurological conditions, including spinal stenosis, brain trauma, and cervical disc disease.
Dr. Tomecek attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. After completing his undergraduate education, Dr. Tomecek enrolled at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. During his time in medical school, he became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received clinical research awards.
Dr. Tomecek completed both his surgical internship and neurological spine residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He also completed a neurological spine fellowship at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, and received additional training in CyberKnife® radiosurgery, stereotactic radiation, brain surgery, endoscopic spinal surgery, micro spinal surgery, and spinal instrumentation for cervical, thoracic and lumbar fixation.
Dr. Tomecek is the first surgeon to receive the Risk & Insurance All-Stars Award for his advances in medical hardware removal surgery. He has a special interest in a number of areas, including cervical artificial disc replacement, complex spine surgery, vascular neurosurgery, and treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.
In addition to providing patient care, Dr. Tomecek is a clinical associate professor for the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Dr. Tomecek stays up to date with the latest advances in neurosurgery, ensuring his patients have access to the most effective treatments. He’s a current member of the American Association of Neurosurgeons as well as the Tulsa County Medical Society and Oklahoma State Medical Association.
